The Five People You Meet in Heaven - Mitch Albom I didn't want to read this. I assumed from the title that it would make me cry and crying isn't exactly what I want to be doing on my long drive to and from work. Blurred vision, smeared mascara and blood shot eyes? Not a pretty picture. My sister left this at my house anyway and insisted that it wasn't overly sad so I'm reading it. It begins in tragedy when Eddie, an 83 year old carnival ride maintenance man, dies attempting save the life of a young girl when a ride fails. I resisted the tears when Eddie passed. Surprisingly, it wasn't too difficult either as he awakens to an afterlife where he meets the first of five people on his journey of understanding pivotal events that occured during his life. It's involving and interested as the book flashes back to Eddie's life as a youngster and I'm really glad my sister left this on my table because I don't think I would've had the nerve to pick this up on my own.
